Dasun Shanaka is a Sri Lankan international all-rounder known for his powerful lower-order batting and medium-pace bowling. Born on September 9, 1991, in Negombo, he worked his way through domestic cricket and became a familiar presence in Sri Lanka's limited-overs teams. His ability to hit boundaries late in an innings makes him particularly useful in matches where a strong finish can change the result.

Shanaka has also served as captain of Sri Lanka and brings experience in managing pressure, adjusting tactics, and guiding younger players. Across his career, he has contributed with both bat and ball and has played in domestic and franchise competitions. His selection for the October 2026 ODI and T20I squads reflects his continuing value as an experienced all-rounder in Sri Lanka's white-ball plans.
