Ismat Alam is an Afghan all-rounder who has been involved in the national Test setup. He developed his cricket through Afghanistan's domestic competitions and has impressed selectors with his ability to contribute in multiple areas.

His return to the Test squad in 2026 gives Afghanistan another useful all-round option. His batting and medium-pace bowling can provide balance to the team, particularly in conditions where an additional seam-bowling option is valuable.
